Vintage Chanel 2.55 black leather bag in excellent pre-loved condition. Designed in aged lambskin, this bag is the ultimate classic. The IT bag has been in the height of popularity in the fashion world for decades. It is also a piece of history, telling a story about its founder, Gabrielle Chanel. The bag was originally issued in February 1955, hence its name 2.55. The interior is lined in a burgundy shade of leather, representing the color of the uniform she wore at the convent in which she grew up. On the inside, you can find a zippered compartment, which is said to hold her love notes. Her extra cash was held in the outer flap on the back of this handbag, and the beauteous, dazzling front lock was named after the never-married Coco, referred to as the ‘Mademoiselle lock’. Last but not least, the handy shoulder strap design was made to recreate the chains Coco would see on the caretakers of the orphanage when she was little. Our 2.55 black bag comes in the impeccable condition, with the original dust bag, authenticity certificate, and box included.
